Capacity Building Support for the Djibouti Coast Guard

The Japan Coast Guard dispatched the Mobile Cooperation Team(MCT) to the Republic of Djibouti, through the JICA framework, to provide the DCG with capacity-building support regarding "stoppage and pursuit", as well as "boarding", "on-board inspection", and "arresting techniques". The MCT also checked the progress of the instructor candidates.

In addition, various training led by the DCG were conducted during this deployment period. These training were carried out primarily by DCG instructor candidates who had been trained by the MCT, making use of the manuals and other materials completed with MCT support. On the day, the Japanese Ambassador to Djibouti and Takahashi, Deputy Director General, Japan Coast Guard observed the training.

The Japan Coast Guard will continue to strengthen cooperation and collaboration with the coast guard agencies of other countries to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific(FOIP), while supporting capacity-building efforts for the countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
