Capacity Building Support for the Philippines Coast Guard
Recognizing the importance of continuing support following the additional deployment of PCG new Multi-Role Response Vessels (ODA:Official Development Assistance), the "PCG Maritime Security Capability Improvement Technical Cooperation Project" was launched under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) last June to assist with the operational capability of these vessels and to enhance maritime law enforcement capacity.
Through this framework, the MCT provided capacity building support for improving capacity in towing, safe navigation and damage control(Fire drill, Simulated fire training) in ship fires of Multi-Role Response Vessels for PCG instructors.
Furthermore, the MCT exchanged views on capacity building support with a view to future coordination and collaboration with USCG MTT and observed the training.
The JCG will continue to strengthen cooperation and collaboration with the coast guard agencies of other countries to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific, while also supporting capacity building for countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
