Capacity Building Support for the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) (Activity Overview)
Through the JICA framework, the MCT and the RC provided capacity-building support to MMEA personnel and others in the field of paint film analysis and identification of vessels.
Through this deployment, we have provided the technical support required for preparation and analysis of paint flakes to scientifically establish the facts surrounding a ship collision.
We also provided advice on the necessary investigative procedures for establishing a paint flakes analysis and identification system in Malaysia, as well as guidance on the practical implementation of such analysis and identification.
The Japan Coast Guard will continue to strengthen cooperation and collaboration with maritime security agencies of various countries to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP), while also promoting capacity-building support for Indo-Pacific coastal nations.
