Signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation to Promote Information Sharing among the Japan Coast Guard, Department of Fisheries and Oceans of Canada, and the Canadian Coast Guard.

On Friday, February 27, 2026, Commandant Yoshio Seguchi of the Japan Coast Guard and H.E. Ian McKay, Ambassador of Canada to Japan, signed the "Memorandum of Cooperation on the Promotion of Information Sharing among the Japan Coast Guard, Department of Fisheries and Oceans of Canada, and the Canadian Coast Guard."
Through this memorandum of cooperation, the parties aim to further strengthen cooperation between the Japanese and Canadian coast guard authorities toward the realization of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)."
