Capacity Building Support for the Indonesia Coast Guard (BAKAMLA)
Under the JICA Technical Cooperation Project aimed at capacity building in the field of maritime law enforcement, the Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT) was dispatched to Indonesia to support the Indonesia Coast Guard (BAKAMLA). The MCT conducted arresting techniques training for BAKAMLA instructor candidates, focusing on the reinforcement of fundamental techniques as well as the acquisition of applied techniques. This training was also positioned as part of the development of BAKAMLA's Arresting Techniques Manual. By conducting the training in accordance with the draft manual under development, the MCT verified the validity and practicality of its procedures. The Japan Coast Guard will continue to strengthen cooperation and collaboration with the coast guard agencies of other countries to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific(FOIP), while supporting capacity-building efforts for countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
